About the Quilted Cow Emporium, LLC
Two friends got the same idea, to open their own Quilt Shop back in 2006. It has been a bumpy road with many more downs than ups. Since it did not kill us, the trials made us stronger. No bunch of ol' boys can tell two head strong ladies (bull-headed heifers) that they "can't do something", cause you will be proved WRONG.
The shop has various fabric lines that should have something for everyone. Special offerings of fabric includes: stuff-a-feedbag with craft quality and various left over fabric from projects, some are not 100% cotton. Bargain Barn specials: flank cuts (quality fabric of various sizes, smallest fat quarter); rump cuts yardage various lengths must take entire piece; on the hoof 1 yard minimum cut. Regular 100% cotton quilting manufacturer's lines starting at $5.99 on up for the Hoffman and Batiks.
The Accu-Quilt cutting system is on site for accurately cutting kits and making our famous "Cow Pies" (MODA does not have the market on luscious fabric strip treats). After the One-on-One class on using the Accu-Quilt cutting system, you can rent the system for a small fee an hour to cut your own quilts!
LongHorn Quilting service available to finish your tops into completed quilts. This Brahma Bull sized, computerized Gammill Statler + Optimum quilting machine can handle the big quilts so you don't have to steer wrestle those big'ens on your home machine. You know what they say, "It's not a quilt until it is QUILTED!" Also have the Gammill Premier steer-sized quilting system for hire. Must take four hour instruction class and purchase/rent zipper leaders. Training is $325.00 and hourly rental is $45.00 per hour with a $15.00 charge for 15-minutes of professional assistance if needed. For the hand-quilters, let the LongHorn machine baste your quilts together and save your knees and back. Minimum fee is $35.00 and goes up depending on size. If you prefer to hand baste, come in when we do not have classes or clubs scheduled and use our 8-foot long tables. We also have a wonderful design wall that you can use to decide on your quilt lay-out and as always the advice is free even if you don't want any!
About the Girls
Hi folks. Annabelle is my name, cud chewing is my game! I am the distinctive looking one. My black spots have almost totally covered my body. But, that's okay. I like being different. Well, it's for sure everyone will know which heifer I am and probably won't forget it.
Because I like being different, I think I can bring back hand embroidery by teaching the techniques. What do you mean, "What's that"? It's the way we from the past generations, did our embroidery. We didn't have fancy, expensive embroidery machines. Embroidery was an art passed from one to another. Yeah, I see you. Face is all wrinkled and your nose is turned up. You think it wouldn't be fun and that you can't do it. Sure you can! Just give it a try using the mindset that it will be FUN! Don't even think about the amount of difficulty. We'll start slow and easy; just like I chew my cud.
Hope to see you soon. Maybe we'll chew the fat instead of chewing our cuds (probably a little more tasty).

Hi, I am "Buttercup" from the Quilted Cow Emporium, LLC. I am one of the partners that started the shop. I did not know that starting your own business was like herding cats; cats do whatever they like and take their own sweet time getting there! Patience is a virtue and a hard lesson to accept, especially when you are doing something you have dreamed about for years.
As a shop owner, I want TQCE to be your UDDER destination, not just for the wonderful fabrics and patterns, but as a refuge in these stress filled times. As heifers (women cows), we need connection and sharing with other women. That's the main reason prairie women folk would gather to make quilts. You not only have a useful piece of art to keep you warm, you had your emotional needs met by interacting with other women. We are giving human beings that on a regular basis require nurturing for ourselves to replenish our inner "well". I remember the family gatherings at the feed trough. My mother, grandmother, aunts and cousins would congregate together to tell old stories, maybe even a little gossip, but only the good kind, instill in us the "golden rule" and that calves are better off seen than heard.
We chose Jacksonville as our home because of its charm, connection to American Civil War history, and the fact that the area needs someplace to congregate that has a welcoming atmosphere and quality fabric that you cannot see through or is so stiff that multiple washings can't soften. TQCE has reasonably priced good quality fabric as well as the top end designer quilting fabrics. Our class offerings and future fabric lines will be guided by what you the customer wants. Of course we will always have Batiks and rich Jewel-toned fabrics, few plaids and even fewer homespuns. What's the use of being the owner if you can't have the things around you that you want? Tee Hee.
I also do the longhorn Quilting on my Gammill Statler + Optimum named "Huey". I enjoy designing the quilting to match the theme of the quilt, so I may ask you lots of questions like who is the quilt for (man, woman, child, baby, teenager, etc), if it's for a special occasion, favorite activity of person receiving, will it be a wall hanging or bed covering, do you hate stippling/meandering or like hearts and bugs! I treat each top as though it was a priceless heirloom and do my best on each one. I think it is also my job to help educate quilters so I will offer suggestions or give you a hand if the borders are waving in the wind, the quilt top or backing is not square or the back threads need trimming so they don't show through the lighter fabric when quilted. Please don't take offense, I am always trying to improve on my skills and hope that you take my suggestions in the manner that I intended, not as an insult.
Please stop by and introduce yourself. Then you can become one of the "TQCE Herd" too!

Hello! I am the missing-in-action Winter Texan. Just like the California Cows you see on TV, I love to be warm and in the sunshine all year round. I'm busy making shop sample quilts for the kits we are cutting. I also finished piecing a commissioned quilt of Cats! I guess some people think cats are cute; I'd rather have something with hooves and a lot of beef, if you catch my drift. Come in to the shop and learn how to quilt your quilts on my baby Gammill. It takes a little getting used to, moving the head/needle not the fabric. It's kind of like dancing, once you get the rhythm everything flows.
Let's get together and cut out a quilt or two! New things are arriving at the shop almost every day, don't want to miss the excitement or lose out on limited quantities of new items. Like they say in politics, vote early and often! We would like for you to shop early and often to make the Quilted Cow Emporium your UDDER destination!
Well, I think "Buttercup" and "Annabell" have put my picture on a milk carton, so I had better rustle my way north. You'll know I'm coming by the way my bling bling sparkles in the sunlight.
Kiss, kiss!

My kids and husband think I should be called Bossy not Daisy!
